Zumtobel „Lights up“ Euro 2012
After its completed orders in Poland and in the Ukraine, Austrian lighting company expects to attain new orders in Eastern Europe.
For Euro 2012 in Poland and the Ukraine, the Zumtobel and Thorn brands, both part of the Zumtobel Group, have illuminated the PGE Arena in Danzig – and the next projects are about to kick off. “As part of our global growth strategy, we are building up our sales network in growth markets like Eastern Europe. The successes already achieved are based first and foremost on new technologies such as LED and comprehensive lighting solutions,” explains Harald Sommerer, CEO of Zumtobel Group.
The two sister brands were awarded the multi-million euro contract to light the PGE Arena in Danzig (Poland) in mid-2011. By the time the major football stadium project had been successfully completed in spring 2012, new opportunities were already on the table for Zumtobel and Thorn. In Poland, Zumtobel went on to supply the lighting for the two Marriott Hotels in Warsaw plus the Hilton in Krakow – and is also currently working on the lighting solution for an Audi plant in Hungary. Thorn is in the process of developing the lighting for the 2014 Winter Olympics at the Russian resort of Sochi.
