Vienna Harbour is Cooperating with the Port of the Emirate of Sharjah
In future, the ports of Vienna and the Emirate of Sharjah intend to cooperate more strongly. An agreement to this end was signed on Monday at the port of Vienna.
The aim of the agreement is to strengthen the business relations and to exchange information and know-how reciprocally on topics such as "international transport management" and "logistics services".
As one of the most important nodes in Danube shipping and transportation of goods to Central Europe, the port of Vienna plays a major role in the EU Danube strategy. The implementation of projects for the sustainable protection of the logistics chain along the Danube waterway is the task of the port of Vienna.
Long-term partnerships as these serve the goals of developing the logistics center at the port of Vienna further in the common interest for its business partners. There are many companies based both in the settlementa areas of both the Vienna and Sharjah ports that are an important target group for new business in both countries.
The Emirate of Sharjah is the only emirate in the United Arab Emirates having ports on the east and west side of the country.
Because of its size and trimodality, the port of Vienna has a special position among the European inland waterway shipping. Because of its location on the Danube and its direct connection to the rail and truck transport, and its proximity to the Schwechat airport, it has an important logistical role in international trade and transport routes.
