Update: Germanwings Crash - Two Iranian Journalists on Transit to Vienna among Victims

It has been confirmed that two transit passengers to Vienna were aboard the crashed Germanwings plane Flight 9525. Reuters reports that the two Iranian dead are sports journalists who were travelling to watch their national team play Chile in Sankt Pölten tomorrow. The two men had earlier travelled to Barcelona to cover a match between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Two Iranian sports journalists were among the victims of the Germanwings flight which crashed in the French Alps killing all 150 people on board, Iranian media and Reuters reported.

Milad Hojatoleslami was working for the Tasnim news site and Hussein Javadi was a reporter for the Vatan Emrouz newspaper.

The two men had travelled to Barcelona to cover a match between the football teams of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The men were on their way to cover a match between the Iranian national football team and Chile scheduled to take place in Sankt Pölten, Austria.

The Iranian national soccer team is to take on South American outfit Chile in a friendly match, scheduled for March 27, 2015.

The match will be held at 8:00 pm in the NV Arena in Sankt Pölten, Lower Austria's capital 75 kilometers west of Vienna.

Iran’s national soccer squad is 41st in the world and tops in Asia ahead of South Korea and Japan according to the latest ranking released in early February by the world football governing body FIFA.
