The Orient begins in Vienna when the cosmopolitan festival Salam.Orient highlights artists from the Middle East, Africa and Asia for the eleventh time. This year, the topic of crossing borders plays a big role in terms of national borders, cultures, languages and styles of play. Musicians cross borders, they break taboos, mix sounds without inhibition and in doing so develop new perspectives.

The multicultural festival combines music, dance and poetry from oriental cultures. From 14 to 31 October, there are concerts at the Theater Akzent, Porgy & Bess and the Sargfabrik.
