Moderate Growth at Darbo
The Austrian jam producer Darbo could continue ist growth course in 2011. Sales were up by 2.5%.
Last year, the Tyrol-based producer of jam and honey, could raise sales by 2.5% to € 110.4m. In 2010, sales totaled € 107.6m. According to CEO Martin Darbo, the company has almost reached its sales targets. “We failed our planes sales for 2011 by only a few thousand euros. Thus, we can call this a precision landing.”
The company underlines that the development of the export business was especially satisfying. Exports amounted to € 47.9m, the export quota reached a new record (43.4%). The highest growth rate was observed at exports to Germany (+15%). Exports to Italy and China were up too. A decline was recorded for Russia, however.
Darbo´s growth industries are the catering sector (+7.3%) and the food industry (+8.4%). In spite of a difficult market environment and high commodity prices (fruits and sugar), results in Austria could be maintained. Darbo is still the market in leader in Austria for jam products (59.5%) and honey (39.1%). “To sum up, it was definitively a good year.”, Darbo concluded.
