Haselsteiner to Leave Strabag Earlier
Hans-Peter Haselsteiner is mandated as CEO of Austria´s largest construction company until 2015. Nevertheless, he will leave the management board earlier.
The industrialist Haselsteiner (68) does not want to stay in Strabag´s management board until 2015. His potential successors are Vice-CEO Fritz Oberlerchner (63) or his son Klemens Haselsteiner (31). The succession is not settled yet. “We did not come to a decision, but we are working on it.”
As Oberlerchner will reach the retirement age in some years too, another executive must be found. “Somebody from outside is a big risk. And it would be a confession of failure not to have anybody in such a big group.” Haselsteiner did not exclude that his son may be his successor.
Haselsteiner took over Strabag in 1974 and created Austria´s biggest construction group. The industrialist considered entering the Conwert board. Haselsteiner has a 24% interest in the Vienna-listed real estate company.
